Since moving to the Bay Area I have been hearing more and more people tell me they are only “culturally Jewish” and that they are not practicing Jews. I simply don’t get it, if you are culturally Jewish wouldn’t that classify you as a practicing Jew and if you were ethnically or maybe ancestrally Jewish that would place you in “I was born Jewish, but don’t do much of anything” category. I am culturally Jewish, I practice the culture of keeping kosher, wearing certain Jewish clothing and celebrate the holidays, or maybe I have it all wrong.
