I don’t really talk about Israeli politics and the Middle East peace process on this blog because like most realists, I don’t think there is any solution. I am not one for pushing the Arabs into the sea, I don’t believe in blowing up mosques, and I don’t believe we should give away land or prisoners in exchange for “peace” or “ceasefires”. Israel has a bad rap and will continue to do so, no matter what it does.
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the Arabs and Israelis fight for show and to have something to occupy their time with. Maybe the entire Israeli-Palestinian thing is like the WWF and it is staged. Because deep down inside I thinkl both the left and right realize there is no reasonable solution.
I am completely ignorant when it comes to Israeli politics, but I know that I can pick up a paper from now or ten years ago and read the same thing. The left wants concession and the right wants to push the Arabs into the sea – sure there are some minor opinions in the middle and on both ends – but that seems to be the general way to go about things.
Don’t even get me started on the big waste of time and money that America is spending to try and establish democracy in a region that will never be fully democratic.
