hahaha. is there a heter for ignition timers for those burning dumpsters?

There's a wide range of observance between Conservative Jews and "frummies". The Modern Orthodox, for example, are neither Conservative nor "in the machmir rat race".

The congregation I attend is affiliated Reform. The general practice is more Conservative. Most of the regular attendees lean toward the Modern Orthodox. This is what happens when your options are Chabad or not-Chabad. I like it, because it gives a lot of freedom to question while learning and implementing halacha and nobody looks at you funny for being too frum or not frum enough. It's a very supportive environment with no stone throwing. Luckily, I'm in Alaska, and I'm pretty sure most of you can't throw that far.

...but can you see Russia from your backyard?
Posted 11 months ago # -
And if you can....are you keeping an eye out for flying Putin's?
Posted 11 months ago # -
Conservative here. No burning dumpsters in the Chicago communities that I know of.
Posted 11 months ago # -
I can't see Russia from the backyard. You have to stand on the roof.
I'm not too worried about flying Putins at the moment. I live close to Army and Air Force bases, and they're doing a pretty good job of keeping the fliers out, and we've got the Coast Guard for the floaters.

People are aware that Sarah Palin NEVER said she could see Russia from her house...right?

Conservative here

Non frummie and very confused here.

Non-frum, religious, probably a blasphemous heretic doomed to everlasting torment.

Everlasting torture, you say? I'd consider a lifetime of being stuck with those who "behaved themsselves" more eternal torture than anything hell could possibly have to offer.
For those of you who are fans of South Park, I refer to Season 4, Episode 11, titled "Probably"; here, it turns out that the Mormons are the only religion who got it right, so heaven is simply a place up in the cloud filled with Mormons. To cut a long story short, the episode ends with Satan finally getting rid of Saddamn Hussein for good by expelling him to heaven, where he has to spend an eternity with Mormons, and this was the worst form of torture possibly imaginable for him.
I ask you, heaven may be nice, but is it nice enough for us to spend eternity with those who actually followed the rules?

It doesn't matter if Palin said it. Tina Fey did, and it's HILARIOUS.
That said, there are some places in Alaska where you can actually see Russia. Where Palin commercial fished is one of them.

I didn't find it hilarious at all. SNL hasn't been funny in years.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Tova, I do like some of the Lonely Island stuff on SNL..
Posted 11 months ago # -
OTD!
Also, while on the topic of South Park, the original, uncut pilot is available over at South Park Studios.

Tova,
There were a couple of the Tina Fey/Sarah Palin sketches where they quoted Miss Alaska verbatim. That's WHY they were funny! Because you literally can't make that stuff up.

Have you seen the Zac Efron sketch? I don't normally like SNL, but I loved that one.
