Used bedika cloths for sale on craigslist

bedika clothsIt seems like ages since someone decided to put something funny and frum on Craigslist, I can’t say this didn’t cause me to puke in a my mouth just a tad, but I always wondered whether Rabbis were selling used bedika cloths to used underwear vending machine operators in Taiwan. It’s probably fake, but that doesn’t make it any less funny.

Used bedika cloths for sale – $10 (Midwood)

Hi,I have a large collection of bedika cloths that I need to sell. As one of the premier poskim for hilchos niddah in Brooklyn, I have amassed an amazing collection of bedika cloths, hand written niddah and other private shayala’s, and several pairs of underwear that our vaad had to debate over. I’m only doing this because the yeshiva tuition crisis has put a tremendous strain on our families finances and one of my former talmidim informed me that there was a market for such things.I’m certain that anyone buying such items will only be using them to further their knowledge of the laws of niddah and taharas hamishpacha. I would prefer to sell these items to a man, for women would have no use for them and therefore they may considered muktza. Let’s keep things tznius.

I am willing to split up the collection and am interested in trading for chofetz chaim letters, an original copy of making of a gadol, or one of those very large lettuce checkers.

I should check to see if one can ask questions of sellers on craigslist

One can do so on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Badei-Penina-Bedikah-Cloths-Pack/dp/B004L5MYMM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

thats funny! But I doubt it is serious… “and am interested in trading for chofetz chaim letters, an original copy of making of a gadol, or one of those very large lettuce checkers.”

Obviously a joke but I don’t get the reasoning. The seller doesn’t want women to buy it because that would somehow be not tznius? Why, because they’d then try to become rabbis?
