Presenting Rabbi Yehuda Levin

by Heshy Fried on February 3, 2010 · 34 comments

Rabbi Yehuda Levin made this video to get attention and it’s working, it is also a huge Chillul Hashem. Rabbi Yehuda Levin is not the first to claim that homosexuality has lead God to destroy random innocent people. Some of you may remember some Rabbis claiming that Hurricane Katrina was caused because of Immoral behavior.

In the video Rabbi Yehuda Levin claims he is part of the Rabbinical Alliance of America – has anyone heard of this organization. It sounds like the Kennedy Fried Chicken version of the RCA. Rabbi Levin was in the news last wek for speaking at a pro-life rally in Washington.

I understand that most folks in yeshivish communities would agree with most of this video, but I am sure most of them would agree that to make it public, on You Tube no less (you tube commenters are notoriously anti-Semitic and dumber than Vimeo or Metacafe) is completely insane.

Anyone who went to yeshiva knows that what is said at the shabbos table or in the beis, stays in the community. If all of the mussar shmuzim I heard during high school were put on You Tube, a mob would surely fire bomb my yeshiva.

Tropper merely forced a woman to have phone sex and while that is a pretty cruddy thing to do, the outside world doesn’t really look at it as such a bad thing. This guy on the other hand, is basically giving people another reason to hate us and someone better shut him up real quick.

Read his Rabbi Levin’s press release here.

If you want to be funny about it – this may just be his way of coming out of the closet.

Ah, proof that Jews can be just as stupid and vile as Fred Phelps or the Saudi mullahs. That’s really being “a light unto the nations”.

Their “website” is a one pager.
Their phone number belongs to a small shul in Brooklyn. (A Young Israel, which is surprising.)

The scumbag is part of Ger. They are the group that protects pedophiles including the serial rapist of boys, Avrohom Mondrowitz. So the party line is stop consensual gay sex, but allow it for gerrorist hassidim.

If his theory is right we should expect earthquakes in the Ger beis medrish

Rabbi Levin has no affiliation with Ger.

The way he says “9/11″ at 2:37 reminds me of this exchange from “Team America”:
Kim Jong Il: It will be 911 times 2356.
Chris: My God, that’s… I don’t even know what that is!
Kim Jong Il: Nobody does!

Doens’t sound so bad to me. Perhaps should’ve been done in letter format instead of public, perhaps.

He are using a lot Post hoc ergo propter hoc logic which – in it’s definition – is false and dumb. I do not know what he hopes to accomplish with such stupidity but he seem devoid of reason and honor much like the bookshelf behind him. As a religious Jew i am ashamed of him. Like every body else he is entitled to his own opinion and to voice it, but to drag the rest of us into his pitiful attempts? to explain why bad things happen in this world is dishonest and cowardly. I long for the days when accusations against Orthodox Jews were unjustified

Thanks for posting this Heshy.

To me, the bottom line is that anyone who thinks they know why bad things happen or understands how God operates is either a complete fool or completely full of their self.

Moshe Rabeinu asked God to explain why bad things happen and he was unable to comprehend the answer.

Further, the assumption that God operates in a level of quid pro quo such as Rabbi Levin suggests is suspect at best and completely erroneous at worst. There is nature is our world and for God to intervene and break the chain of nature requires a miracle. We do not live a that kind of world. Our world is a world of a hidden God.

I suggest reading the article by Rabbi Emmanual Feldman on Cross Currents which echoes this sentiment.

This does not even consider the Chillul Hashem involved in blaming one group’s actions for a tragedy to another group all while exonerating one’s own group. So if Levin had said “the earthquake happened because of OUR immorality it would be akin to what critics accused Avi Shafran of doing. Not very nice, but not as egregious. Levin takes it to a new level. He blames a 3rd party (Gays in the military) for the tragedy in Haiti.

Way to go…

===I understand that most folks in yeshivish communities would agree with most of this video===

That’s ridiculous, Hesh.

Maybe the 10th graders who are used to fire and brimstone rhetoric and one-upsmansnhip in Yeshiva would “agree with” this nonsense. But I wager you that most adults in “yeshivish communities” would think that this video is utter nonsense.

The guy is a complete wack-job for so many reasons. Why would you help publicize it, if you agree no good can come of this?

Heshy, I actually agree with this guy.

If that is the case, let him first deal with the homosexuality in his own frum community, because only god knows how much of it there is! Why is he so worried about the army when so much of it takes place in his own backyard?

I have heard of the Rabbinical Alliance of America. I know a Rabbi in it, a Chabad Rabbi.

The RAA is the (mostly Chasidic) rabinical organization run by R’ Gershon Tannenbaum, author of ‘My Machberes’ in the Jewish Press.

Rabbi Tannenbaum is also a convicted fraudster.

I originally heard it from a Greek guy back in the pre Clinton days when gays were still banned from the US army.

Phil,
The Canadian Army allows openly gay men and women to serve. Do you feel less safe?
Why do OJ’s care about gays in the US military? It is not like their kids are joining.

Avrumy,

I definitely don’t feel less safe. The more gays sent to Iraq, the less queer parades blocking traffic here.

As long as I’m not the one that has to bunk or shower with them, I couldn’t care less if thet made the army exclusively homo, though they become the butt of everyone’s jokes (pun intended).

Heck, if it were up to me, they would be sent to the front lines. Kind of gives a new meaning to the “heat of the battle”.

This guy is a quack. He ran for city council several times only to be booted out on his ass. The guy is anti everything just so he can get attention. Pathetic.

Well i could care less if gays are in the military as long as they can hack it mentally and physically. i don’t want the flammer sissy type to be defending me more than i want a hetro sissy coward defending america. but it really doesn’t take much courage or manliness to push a button and deploy a huge bomb so i really dont think there is anything to worry about. i mean we don’t live in braveheart days, and even if we did, alexander the great who saved the jews asses— many of us still name our children after, (sacha, alex, max, etc..) was homo-ish (as were most greeks) king leonidas and the other spartan warriors practiced pedastry, the greeks in general were all boy lovers and practicers homosexuality and other sexual deviant behavior, were very effeminant in many ways, but were some tough sons of bitches… france made war with england on and off again for centuries and were know for being very androgynous if not overtly femine and many rumors of sexual deviancy has become the iconic standard when talking about 16-17th century france..

but that said, many things in this world is caused by Hashem, i fully believe nothing is coincedence, and that one of the centers for american debauchery and sexual deviance– new orleans was abbliterated… now haiti who’s national religion is VOODOO witchcraft, many people who still practice the dark arts including the government, these men practice cannibalism, and make zombie slaves for G-d sakes (yes they do exist not in the way you think though). is it not funny how right next door the dominican republic is totally fine in comparison? i say it happened for a reason, and Hashem let it happened.
