Ebay listing: Pay me to wear tznius clothing – no joke

by Heshy Fried on January 8, 2010 · 19 comments

This is such a good idea – I kind of feel like posting an ad that says – I will make z’man krias shema or stop telling loshon horah for a week. I could use the money, besides, isn’t this the same thing as when campus kiruv rabbis tell you that if you learn with them for the semester you will get a free trip to Israel or something?  See the ebay tznius clothing

I like this idea actually January 9, 2010 at 8:42 PM

This woman is way ahead of me. It sounds like a venture I would undertake plus I could use a few extra cash. Since most of the community leaders devote their time berating women for breech of tznius, they now have a cause to finally encourage women to cover up. I currently wear pants. If you want me to stick to skirts only, that will be $600.00. If you want me to cut my sheitel, that will be another 400 bucks. Since I’m getting married soon, a check made out to a handsome amount would be nice. A little freebie never killed anyone.

I think she noted on her blog that many in the charedi world believe that violation of tzbius are worse than theft. Those who believe that should let her rob them (pay the ebay price) rather than let her walk around violating the rules of tznius.

To E-bay girl
Sorry honey you got it all wrong. Men pay women to take off clothing not to put clothing in?!If being a tznua is not reward enough for you why don’t you just continue dressing like a slut and see what happens to you. Since it’s quite obvious you’re not a very intelligent women I’ll sum it up for you into 3 simple words: RAPE! AIDS! DEATH! Now have a good think about that and tell me if you still want to dress like a hooker :)

“Hookers” are people too. The vast majority of them were abused as children.

I dress modestly, and I would like to see other women do so too, but out of love for Hashem, not as a result of being bullied and humiliated.

Hey You Shmendrick Who Bought My Listing and Has Not Yet Paid :

Please be aware that according to our chachamim, each and every minute that you do not pay up, you are causing me to sin through wearing immodest clothing! Our gedolim would not want you to be responsible for Klal Yisroel’s aveiros. Pay up immediately so that your chelek in Olam Habah won’t suddenly be reallocated to Rebbe Madoff.

Q: Do you mind if HaGaon HaRav Leib Tropper inspects you closely for the week of tzniut? I’d be much more comfortable if someone of his stature were personally involved. Jan-10-10
A: Unfortunately, my gadol, Rebbe Madoff, will not permit such an inspection without a commensurate donation to his pidyon shevuim campaign, as well as your social security number and bank password, for verification purposes. However, you do win the question of the week award.
lol.
I have to give her a bit of credit. She’s making a point (although this is taking it a bit far.) Also most former-anything, and certainly former Lubavitchers, carry more of a grudge.

Concerned Mother… I am concerned for your children. Your closemided attitude is appalling. this girl didn’t say she is (or dresses like) a hooker. She wears pants and doesn’t cover her collar bone. there is a huge diffrence between Bais Yakove plaid and box sweaters vs. hookers…
I have a daughter, and i would hate to think her options are Rape, Aids, and Death or Bais Yakove dress.
there are pleanty of healthy well adjusted modest girls who never got raped, never got pregnant out of wedlock, never got an std, and also never listened to crazy people like you.
Spreading lies like that is what drives young people to try and find out what else there is out in the world, and get themselves in trouble. please check your priorities and re-evaluate your child rearing strategies before you infect the world with more over-oppressed rebellious jewish kids.

Fair enough. There are some “normal” self respecting non-religious jewish ladies out there. But between one parent and another don’t you think this girl is making fun and belittiling the whole idea of tzniut(she’s probably thinking “ha ha I just got some frum sucker to give me $300 I’ll wear tznius clothing for a week then I’ll go back to my old ways”)bottom line is if she has to be bribed to be tznius, she probably doesn’t WANT to be tznius and anyone giving her money is wasting thier time and money

I’m all for tznius, but I don’t understand why so many women feel that being tznius means looking like a scare crow. I bet their husbands traumatized them by yelling “I’m blind, put it back on!” when these ladies took their clothes off.

Also, rape has absolutely nothing to do with what a woman wears. Studies have actually been done on the attire of rape victims that show that modestly dressed women are MORE likely to get raped that immodestly dressed women. So what does that do to your theories, Concerned Mother? RAPE is an act of violence that only uses sex as its weapon of power over someone weaker. If it’s really about clothing explain how infants get raped. And 80-year-old women get raped too–lots of them dressing like hookers, aren’t there?
