Snoods are officially in style!!!

snoodSnoods are one of the few items of clothing I have ever lobbied for the Rabbis to ban, along with bullet proof stockings, shoulder padded shabbos robes and pillbox hats, snoods are one of the ugliest pieces of clothing a woman can wear. So imagine my surprise when someone sent me an article from Yesterdays New York Times Fashion section titled Can the snood save Christmas? Shocking eh, now I wonder if it will banned afterall, not because its ugly, but because since the non-Jews are wearing it, it may lead women to want to intermarry and leave the house like non-Jewish women do.

Does this mean that frummies will now be fashionable? I honestly had thought that frummies had invented the snood, but I guess that just isn’t the case. Now, who knows what will happen, first Burberry Snoods than maybe Victorias Secret shabbos robes.

Hey, look on the bright side, at least more married women will cover up their hair and we wont be caused to sin because snoods are a heck of a lot uglier than those $3000 sheitles.

Me too buddy, me too. Or maybe we did invent the snood, and like many things(whether or not this is rational, idk..especially when it comes to the bad and the ugly..namely snoods) the non-jews are copying the idea.

A snood puts no one in the mood.

The pillbox hat is a CLASSIC. If it ever comes back into style, I’m so rocking it.

PS: Snoods suck. But the game was fun :) (Snood, you know, the computer game.)

As a full out tichel wearer myself, I think pop star snoods look a hell of a lot better than the frum ones. The hair exposed in the front is the big difference. The loose styles of what are called “snoods” in the modern trend market are more reminiscent of mid-eastern or muslim attire with loose fabric covering the head and it looks so much better because it focuses on framing the face, not having an ungly bag of hair in the back that doesn’t flow and connect with the rest of the outfit.

hahah this is great. I actually noticed that snoods seemed to be in style also. Now if tznius clothing could just come into style it would make shopping for clothes a whole lot easier…

and apparently there are snoods for dogs too! look at this:

So what next, 100 denier stockings for lakewood women without the seam or the Israeli style, not in certain neighborhoods of Jerusalem with the seam.

Or for the cross dressers, can we find out where the hassidishe rebbes get their stockings.

I can just see it, a gay chossid who starts covering their scene. Has to be a hassid, because frankly 1. Polish is in this year 2. how much can you do with just black and white, without satin or furs.

Yeah, snoods are mad ugly (they even make hot girls ugly). I don’t know what those ladies are thinking; “tichels” are waaay hotter..

My husband used to refer to snoods as “those things that look like vaccum cleaner bags.”

Would snoods look half as bad if they weren’t always worn with those robes?

If snoods make it to Vogue then its something big. I am not a particular fan of snoods and wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those. I would prefer those pre tied bandannas or scarves. Now that we are on the topic of slutty sheitles, I went to a wig fair to check out the lines of sheitles they had. I nearly passed out trying one of those on because the hair knit was too tight and those clips are a nasty piece of work. It also happened to be very hot in that roon which is a phenomenon in most of these wig or clothing shops.

please notice however that when these articles talk about “snoods being fashionable”– they are actually talking about the round scarves (ie a normal scarf but the dangling ends are connected into a circle) made by American Apparel being wrapped around the head… nothing like the snood I remember from the Ortho community
