Honestly we can not deny the requests to read tehillim for a fellow yid, after all — it is ahavas yisroel, and veahavto l’reacho kamoiheh. We should care for one another.
Now I don’t know if it is possible, but if you are already reading a number of tehillim in the morning as per the day of the month, have all the sick of am Isroel in mind when reading one extra kapitel?

In all seriousness, many of the requests I recieve are outdated. I recommend that every request contain a weblink to a site that constantly verifies the need for tehillim.

Tehilim request for someone I don’t know? Denied. Deleted. Into the Trash. I’m sorry but I have a busy schedule, and when I’m saying Tehillim at all, it’s for something serious (i.e. my friend’s mother’s terminal illness, not your routine root canal) or for someone I explicitly know (and their immediate relatives if they’re close).

it is so sad – but i agree with this rant. i get daily texts messages from people i dont know. yes i always try to stop and say a perek of tehillim but is has really gotten out of control. i need to stop getting tehillim requests with just a name. sometimes i will write back asking who the tehillim are for and i am scolded b/c the person would like to remain anonymous. is it is really so hard to write – baby with cancer vs grandmother needing pacemaker etc. it def chnages the kavahna level as well as the likelihood that its a legit tehillim request.
