I never really got a full understanding for what’s actually going on up at the bimah. Sometimes there are hold ups, sometimes people are hocking with each other, then in some shuls you have the signal guy who somehow has a connection with whoever is laining- though I never understood how if there was no universal laining signal standard- how the lainers knew the code. Hesh, you oughta be one of those “matra d” (spelling?) guys finding everyone seats and chatting away. Something to look forward to when you’re grown up and settled.
