A chashuva Rav recently said that the reason the frum community has so many tzoros these days is because of a lack of tznius.

It doesn't matter that the skirt goes down to the womans ankles if you can see her panty line, or if I can make out the flowery design on her bra- IT IS TOO TIGHT, and thus not tznius.

Also, the long "Sexy, sexy" long shaitels arent the most tznius things either. (If we are calling a shaitel sexy, isnt there inherently a problem there?)

People who dont cover their hair, and even women who dont wear elbow-length sleeves, or dont wear stockings during the summer, such as in many MO communities, are VERY OFTEN dressed more tzniusly than the ones who do. Of course the "Chanis" as you are referring to them, will frequently look down at these MOs lack of tznius (Ive actually heard this from a woman whos shirt was tighter than her skin and was wearing some black whorish stockings and very high-heeled slutty boots about a Modern-ish lady who was wearing a loose t-shirt, long jean skirt and hat with her hair hanging out a few inches- MUCH more tznius imho, than this "Chanie"), but the fact is that very often in Teaneck or the like, the women are dressed more tzniusly that the ones in Lakewood, or Crown Heights, or Flatbush, even when they arent wearing stockings (SHOCHER!!!)

Bottom line is tight & slutty= NOT-TZNIUS. No matter how long the skirt or shirt sleeve is.

When did this "lets see who can dress the sluttiest with the length of the skirt and shirt officially (I use this term loosely) being within halachik guidelines" competition start? And when does it end?

Thank goodness I left the world where "hocheach tochiach et amitecha" is considered the Torah's #1 mitzva!

To all the critics I have news for you...the Torah doesn't say anything about what a woman should or shouldn't wear. The only woman whose dress is described there is Chava who makes acceptable clothes out of vines. Before that she isn't wearing anything at all and according to the Torah there was no problem with that. In fact Hashem is angry with Adam for getting to the state where there was a need for clothes because there was an awareness of shame. So it's mashma that in the ideal state people wouldn't need clothes at all because their minds would be pure enough to make nudity irrelevant.
No we are not at that state. But what is a fact is that the ones who set up dress codes for women was generations of male Rabbis despite the issurim involved in women in provacative dress being an issur on the males rather than the females. The rabbis claimed to be protecting the women's tzniut but in fact it's the men they were protecting - except that as with all the rest of the everbuilding shtick in today's frum world they got more and more stringent ad absurdum (and just for the sake of full disclosure I am male, from an orthodox rabbinical family attend shul regularly and consider myself religous).
so now what? Now we're discussing the patterns of women's stockings and the length of their heels? Isn't this a little obsessive. The original Rabbis gave general guidelines for dress but nowadays that seems to serve as an excuse for everyone with a heels or nylon fetish to make an in depth study of women's clothing. supposedly this is in order to determine whether they're "frum enough" (as if it's anyone's business but Hashem's to judge that)! In fact the sheer obsession with women's bodies and clothing under the guise of ascertaining chastity becomes more perverted than the clothes themselves.
furthermore let me give you a tip my fellow males (especially those of you who claim that they're going out to the shops dressed in their "slutty clothes" to attract male attention). Women don't dress for us - almost ever. The fact is your average male (myself included) couldn't tell a designer dress from a gittel goldstein's knish and dress design emporium product. The thing is (and pay close attention) women dress to impress other women. There are other issurim involved in that often such as the inevitable attempt to cause kina among women as well as gaava but it has nothing to do with attracting males. A good looking woman could dress in a potato sack and leave us panting while a meeiskeit could dress in a designer dress and most of us wouldn't know it. Naturally the less of a life they have the more they have to get their kicks from these small triumphs (the less one is or does in life the more important it is for them to try and show others how important they are).

Ultimately, it behooves religous women to dress in an appropriate manner for their community. One which covers at the very least the private areas + whatever else the community deems fit to cover. But even if they don't they don't owe it to us to dress in a partiular way and if they do when you get to shamayim and tell hashem "but she was dressed in 5 inch heels" he's not going to say "oh well, not your fault." It's up to us to rein in our yetzer hara rather than obsessing over what women (single certainly, married all the more so) are wearing nor is it our job to play tznius police. If you think a woman dresses as she does to impress you or that it's your job to police other people's tznius or criticize it then you my friend have a serious gaava problem!

Why do you care if she wants to wear a wig?
Why can't men just be men and care about their own things, and women their own. Its judgementality that makes women be hot Chanies. Stop proliferating it little brother

Me married to a hot channi??? Thats one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Trust me its not very high up on the list. Peeing in the woods and being able to hike 25 miles a day with a full pack are much more important to me than makeup and expensive wigs, shit I hate wigs, give those scarves or something.

Seriously! Isn't it a little silly that you're sitting around staring at relatively modest dressed women's asses and bitching about how its turning you on too much and you can't get laid by them? I understand you're supposed to be funny, but to actually think that women should hide out in a closet because you can't be a man and realize that perhaps your own shortcomings are why you're really frustrated.

I think its time for men and women in the Orthodox Jewish community to grow up and take just a tiny drop of responsibility. yes heshy, I think it might help you to actually accept that women coexist with you in this tiny Jewish world and to have, like, just the tiniest drop of respect for them as people.

I'm also a single girl and I see a tremendous amount of prevaling issues with Jewish males, including an immaturity that lasts a bit too long. Maybe I should take a page from your book and check out our married daddies because they're somewhat more responsible lol

While I do agree with you that women might be dressing too provocatively, I also think you're completely oversimplifying. That dress is in response to shallow Judaism that is promoted by men expecting their wives to be fake ass religious, as they are.

In conclusion, I think our best bet is to worry about our own faults and try to be our own best people. You'll get married and your wife will be a hot Chanie too. I think its an issue that you and many boys want that instead of more important qualities. And don't bother arguing that you don't want that because we all know you do. Good luck finding her :)

Switching the skirts? No way, head-to-toe black looks really bad.

Once again, I find this post highly offensive to women. From the terms "hot chani" and "sheitel hooker" to the exacting way in which the men on here are analyzing every aspect of these women's dress, it just isn't right nor is it tzniut. Instead of castigating the women pictured for supposedly being untzniut, why don't you take a look at yourself for spending so much time staring at them in the first place? Their outfits are far from "slutty" or "hookerish". Please don't use those words, even in comparison to the rest of the frum world. Any man who takes the time to photograph women or cross-examine this picture are at fault for whatever inappropriate thoughts enter their heads, not the women themselves.

Furthermore, it seems to me that anyone who knows these women well should be able to recognize them even from the back. Being that this website is very popular, it's quite possible and even likely that a friend or relative of one of these women will stumble across this post (or even the women themselves!) Think of the humiliation that will ensue when they find it, and then ask yourself if you'd like to be in that position.
