Honestly Frum:
>Call it yeridas hadoros or whatever you want but we are not producing “gedolim” of the caliber of previous generations. We are going to be in big trouble when Rav Elyashiv and Co. pass on to the next world and a group of kooks take over. Riots in Bet Shemesh will only be the beginning. I fear we will end up looking the Taliban. It’s time to stop and take a look at the bigger picture.

IT is yeridas Hadoros!! Thats exactly what it is! Thats an inevtiable issue which is going to be whatever you say or try to do! You cant compete with G-D's plan there. But heres an excellent way to strengthen yeridas
hadores and belittle the gedolim; this website!! By pointing out every mistake or so called mistake a Rabbi does, publicly, you are showing people that the rabbonim do not deserve respect. Is that what you genuinely feel becuase yes thats the message you are giving off? By slandering and shaming these rabbis you are making people subconciously lose respect for tehse rabbonim and slowly slowly these rabbonim lose their holy status. So if you are so worried about ensuring that the Gedolim don't get taken pushed down and we continue to be guided by them then its probably best not to turn people against them because that is what you are currently doing!!yes something has to be done, we have to respect them more! We are also on a lower level, not just the gedolim, so instead of trying to perfect the world, in fact teh supporting people of the world, worry about yourself. This website is a chilul hashem and instead of trying to improve the world which maybe you genuinely are trying to do, you are making it harder to respect people.
We have to have undenying respect for our gedolim and understand that they are who they are for a reason and not try to find faults in them. Firstly it brings public attention to them which is not what we need and secondly its not your business. How would you like all your 'mistakes' broadcast online??
If you try tell te world how bad te gedolim are and how hard it is to respect them then yes, people will lose their respect for them. Simple as that really.

I also just want to add that this site does contain some good things as well. Some things are good and yes there is nothing wrong with making jokes and making people laugh but isnt there a point where humour and mocking cross each other?

Ok let me explain to you the basis of Judaism. Believing! Believing with no proof whatsoever but just because it feels right. You have to be able to differentiate as a mature adult what you must believe and what you should question. How do we know Judaism is correct? NOT by questioning but by believing! If we want to grow spiritually then we can question our actions and see if we are doing the right thing. If you hear something knew you can question that as well to check if you yourself should be keeping that. Thats what is meant by questioning. To start talking about the holiest known people in our time and dont you deny you dont think of them as holy, and questioning them is wrong. You have to believe someone inorder to believe in Judaism. Not everyone; there are many look decieving people who you think you can trust and follow but turns out you cant. Thats their problem, not yours. You have to know that you are basing your faith on the fact that you are watching holy sages in our times and can see how true it is. Again not everyone, but common sense should guide you.
People of huge Torah establishments may have gone wrong at some points but thats because the yetzer horah is stronger in holier people. Things happen and thats between them and G-D. Its NOT for any of us to challenge or discuss.
If you feel it necessary to question the biggest gedolim of our times about necessary chumros they have imposed, then you are lacking the fundamental basis of faith. You may not want to accept them and I am not saying I want to either but some people are listening and thats a huge kidush Hashem. Yes, thousands are ignoring the Rabonim and thats a chilul Hashem but at least they are not targeting and challenging the Rabbonim online on a public website where people can see.
We need to know we can believe in our biggest Rabbonin so that we can believe in Judaism even when we are being challenged by the rest of the world. Thats my point about following blindly and about when it is appropriate to question.
Jenthejewess I am sorry it bothers you that I am voicing my opinion. I feel so strongly about this and I feel comfortable stressing my points and this is what is meant by free speech. I am not targeting anyone in particular because thats not my point, I am targeting the website as a general epitome of Chilul Hashem and I wish some people would understand that. The reason I keep reading is because it is the chilul hashem which disgusts me to the point that I am almost desperately seraching for something which will show me that someone feels against it as well. Thats the yestzer Horah perhaps and I am not trying to act perfect or saintly so I can admit it may not be right for me to be doing this. I am simply following what I feel is right.

Frum Hiker // Aug 15, 2007 at 1:29 am Ok rebel and Mookie- first of all, this blog is not serious 99% of the time and the fact I put her comments up was just trying to show how serious people take my posts- which are total comedy.

I'm kinda siding with m00kie here, I think that ed and disgusted do raise some valid points; I for one am not comfortable with all the criticism of the gedolim. Most of the content on this site is harmless and good fun, and I think that criticism of this is just being silly. Im not talking about sexual references, if you look through the archives you will see that the vast majority of posts are merely very funny observations of human behaviour. Ok so they happen to be about Jews but thats because we are Jewish and thats what we know and what interests us. Theres nothing inherently anti-semitic about them. C'mon do you really take offense at depictions of nose-picking and awkward singles events?
