I see it all the time, even in israel! I assume it's because people want to relieve themselves of the pain, but since they cant really blame it on G-d , they just scream Jesus. By doing so, they get the relief, while knowing they're not really doing anything too wrong, although there are those that say you shouldnt say Jesus in the first place because of avoda zara. I never really understood that, it either has support, or it's one of those made up frummy halachos that get passed as "In the Mishnah Berurah, go look!" I imagine if there would be support, it would be along the lines of saying the name of avoda zara is a form of serving it, but OBVIOUSLY that doesnt rest too well with the logical thinker.
